  1. FWIW, here’s what the facultyco IRC server says about our main channel: "created on Sat, 16 Mar 2019 13:13:48”. Most of us use IRCCloud which has occasional availability issues, but we have a solid backup plan (alternate clients). Stability is but one reason we avoid Slack.

      To be clear: that server got a restart ~22 months ago, and it’s been fully stable since then. Before that, it ran from Dec 2017 without any issues. We fully control it, connect with our clients of choice, run custom services, and on the rare occasion it breaks: we can fix it.
