  1. iPad users with a hardware keyboard: that little floaty widget with “EN” (or another language) is called the “Shortcut Bar”, and you can dismiss it forever: Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> turn off Shortcuts. This wasn’t obvious to me because I didn’t know what to search for.
