Once a year or so, Apple Mail (I’ve used for ~15 years) gets “stuck” into thinking that I have unread messages. I don’t, though. I’ve tried rebuilding, rebooting, re-whatever. This kind of thing is the worst part of Apple’s hubris: no contingency plan for when things go wrong.
